Healthy Eating

Is healthy eating really all that important? Well, the way I see it is that food is a gift from God, and it’s so interesting to consider how the misuse of food creates issues on so many levels. It is destroying our health in ways that we can’t even figure out with most of our chronic diseases directly caused by the foods we eat. It wreaks havoc on the environment with the use of all the pesticides and herbicides that eventually deplete the soil of minerals making the food less nutritious than is needed to maintain our health. It leads to merciless treatment of animals so we can mass produce meat and meat products, when animal products are known to create health and environmental issues. If you really stop and think about the situation, it all seems a bit insane that we’re in a sense destroying ourselves and possibly the whole human race with the very thing that is supposed to give us life on this earth—food.

I think there’s one group of people who don’t really think or care about healthy eating. I assume those are the people who aren’t really looking for a change and are perfectly happy with their current situation. But I think there’s a whole other group of people who do care about what they eat and how it impacts their health, the environment, and their whole sense of well-being. Many of those people have already found their way to healthy eating while others just haven’t found the magic bullet that has gotten them committed to healthy eating for the long-term. If you happen to be one of those people, I urge you to keep working at it. Finding a healthy diet and lifestyle shouldn’t be a struggle, rather a journey. Food is not your enemy and should never be viewed as such. It only feels like your enemy when you’re not truly aligned with what you’re putting in your mouth.

I don’t know that the ideal diet looks the same for everyone. But what I have found to be my ideal diet is a plant-based diet. This has been a long-term transition for me where I first cut my meat consumption to two or three times per week. From there, I cut meat from my diet other than rare occasion but continued to eat dairy and eggs, and now I am eating a completely vegan diet. With each level of change, my relationship with food has improved. I no longer feel deprived in any way and thoroughly enjoy giving my body the nutrition I feel it needs. For me, eliminating animal products of any kind from my diet was my ultimate lifestyle even though I didn’t know it when the journey began. So if you are looking for a change and think a vegetarian, vegan, or raw vegan diet may be right for you, this website can help you on your journey. I share with you health information and benefits of choosing a plant-based diet as well as recipes and products to hopefully make your journey a little easier. And remember, the journey doesn’t need to happen overnight. A gradual process can be very effective, just as it was for me.
